Amanda was a hard-working, single West Virginia mother who at the age of 29 decided she wanted a better life for her baby daughter Bailey. She enrolled at Glennville State College and works part-time wherever she can find employment.
Mountain Re-Source Center founder, Herb Miller, saw Amanda's determination for a better life and encouraged her to build a new home for her and her daughter. MRC was able to provide materials—from shingles, to windows, to new Florida Tile—for Amanda and Bailey’s “country home.”
Local friends, family and volunteers from a half dozen churches came from near and far to lend a hand and encourage a brighter future for Amanda and Bailey.
In Amanda’s second year at Glennville State, she met and married a wonderful man named Matt. Matt is in the process of building a small outbuilding that Amanda will use for the custom art ceramics business she has already started.
